Ştefan Câlţia is a con­tem­po­rary painter from Bucharest, Roma­nia. Com­bin­ing per­sonal expe­ri­ences (run­ning away with the cir­cus) with a vivid imag­i­na­tion, Câlţia man­ages to cre­ate dra­matic char­ac­ters, which remind the viewer of both Byzan­tine iconic fig­ures and theatre-like char­ac­ters, sim­i­lar to those of Hierony­mus Bosch.
